Computer Files from Video

In addition to photographic prints, Jerry's Video can provide computer images in the .gif, .jpg and .bmp file formats. You can touch these up and print them in PhotoShop®, Paint Shop Pro® or one of the numerous other photo enhancing software programs.

We are able to make files from tapes in the VHS, S-VHS, 8mm and Hi-8, and Digital 8 formats. You'll need a PC compatible floppy disk or "zip" disk for storing your captured images, or can burn the files to CD if that is a format that serves your needs.

Computer to Video Tape

We're frequently asked whether we can transfer computer presentations to video, and whether images that have been captured on the computer via scanner can be put onto video tape.

The answer to both questions is YES! In fact, almost anything that you can create on the computer can be transferred to video.

Will it look good? Again, the answer is yes. Photo's and line art transfer very well, without alteration.

Text often has to be made larger to show up well on the video screen. Here's why.
You probably work in a resolution of 800x600 on your computer.
Video can only display about 525 lines of information vertically.
So, some of the resolution you see on your computer monitor will be lost in the transfer. In photographs, because of the color and abundance of detail, your eye usually can't tell the difference.
But with type, especially if the font has serifs -- those little curlicues at the ends of letters -- enough is lost in the video transfer that small font sizes don't show up very well. Usually sizes larger than 14 point look o.k., and the "sans serif" fonts work better than those with serifs.
